Travel Safe! + a photo for Josh

I dropped my friends off at the airport this morning and everything seemed rather calm.

Here are a couple of photos I wanted to add:
Megan in front of a Tony Hawk poster, and....

check out this cool half skull rock I found at the beach in OB!

Well, Megan and Mom, I hope you had as much fun as I! Travel safe.

Final Vacation Post

Our final act of vacation was to drive (yep, we drove - why walk when you can drive??) over to the Kensington Grill and get some dessert. As always, the food was fantastic and it is a fun place to relax.

Megan had the Messy Brownie Sunday and it was supurb!

Mom and I shared a bread pudding which was simply lovely, but did not merit a photo because...well, I don't know. I was tired, OK? I had no more photo taking vibe left!

Sorry about the dark photos - just trust me that we had a great time and everybody was smiling!

Coronado

We all had a great time whenever we hit the beach. Monday was cold and cloudy, but we are Wisconsinites! That did not stop us from getting our daily recommended dosage of beach time! After Old Town, we cruised on over to Coronado. And it was a SAFE cruise with the driver paying the utmost attention to where she was going!

I am in awe of Megan's bravery! That is some cold water.....and cold air! Yikes!

Old Town

The gals and I took a tour of Old Town on Monday.

Megan was on her best behavior so she would avoid getting thrown in the clink!

Megan and I get our luche libre on.
Of course we had to perform some quality control and ensure that Old Town is still offering fine refreshments.

And no visit to Old Town would be complete without the ol "pretend you are eating the cactus" video.....I mean photo.

All in all, we had a fun little adventure at Old Town.

The Community Garden Visit

There are many succulent photo-ops in San Diego.

We also paid a visit to my little plot-o-earth on Sunday. It was a happy visit as I finally have some seeds popping up! Seeing as it is winter in San Diego, I have planted all cold weather crops.

Meg shot this photo of a quintessential Halloween pumpkin.

The Nut

On Sunday we visited the Farmer's Market in Solana Beach. We were very lucky to find some fresh Macadamia nuts at one of the stalls. Well, once we figured out how to crack them we were lucky! The hammer did not work. But Mom is brilliant and found a home grown remedy for us. The rice pot comes to our rescue!

As you can see, this treat causes people to exude happiness!

Saturday in La Jolla

We had a lot of fun on Saturday - as we have every day! We spent the morning lazing about and had brunch at the Adams Avenue Grill. Since brunch was such an exhausting endeavor we came home and had a bit of a rest. Then we headed out to La Jolla.
Seals sunning at the children's pool.

Megan finds a gigantic piece of seaweed!
Megan and I got soaking wet in the waves. It was a lot of fun!

We lucked out - I was afraid it was going to rain all day. It actually was sunny and warm. Yay!

Friday - the final installment

After a fantastic lunch, we walked over to the beach and enjoyed the sand, surf, and surfers.

Mom and Megan with the Ocean Beach pier in the background.

Megan gets brave! Will she? Won't she? How far will she go?

She. Goes. All. The. Way!!!

By the way, what the heck is this?

More Friday Fun.....

After the roller coaster and a stroll on the boardwalk, we cruised over to OB and ate lunch at Hodad's.

They're going in!!!!!

Now that is a bite of burger!

Friday Fun

Friday the Thirteenth turned out to be a lucky day for us as it did not rain as forecasted and we had a great time all day long!

First, we paid a visit to the roller coaster at Belmont Park in Mission Beach.

Thursday Fun

Thursday, the peeps and I parked in Little Italy and walked down to the harbor. We made a spur of the moment decision to tour the ships docked by Anthony's and I am glad! It was really fun and very interesting. Oh, and haunted!

Mom and Megean on the Berkeley. Mom and the Star of India...and downtown San Diego!

Megan testing the hatch size prior to our submarine adventure.

Megan taking the helm on the Surprise, the ship used in the movie "Master and Commander".

The Star of India with sails raised.

After our tour, we continued our mosey over to Seaport Village and had a bit of a snack at The Fish Market. We were able to sit right by the water - and screaming kids! Then we visited some of the shops at Seaport Village, including Hot Licks. They have every kind of hot sauce imaginable - and you can taste whatever you want! Megan found some yummy jellybeans.......

You cannot read the label, so I will tell you they are called "Ass Kickin' Jelly Beans" and they have a donkey on the label. Pretty funny!

We had a great time. Rather early to bed for each of us on Thursday night, but we were worn! We walked many a mile on our little tour of the ships and downtown.

Oh, by the way

On Wednesday night, Mom passed out at 8 and Megan made it until 9!!!

I have company!!

Mom and Megan arrived Wednesday afternoon after an uneventful flight. After I picked them up we headed over to C-Level on Harbor Island and had a couple of beverages and some peel and eat shrimp.

This place is right on the water and has gorgeous views!
